You can read more about behaviour and development HERE and HERE.

Did You Know?

Developmental delays occur when a child's progression through milestones either slows, stops, or reverses. You can read more about milestones by clicking HERE. Children tend to reach milestones at their own pace and minor, temporary delays are usually no cause for concern. Prolonged or multiple delays are a sign that your child needs extra support and could benefit from early intervention. Discussing your concerns with your family doctor or pediatrician is a great first step.

What is Early Intervention?

Early Intervention is the act of identifying and providing effective, early support for children who are at risk of experiencing unfavourable outcomes once they enter school and beyond. Early intervention typically focuses on one or more of the following developmental areas: fine motor, gross motor, communicative, cognitive, adaptive, and social-emotional development. For more information on these developmental areas, click HERE.

What Does Early Intervention Do?

Early Intervention works to support optimal development, thereby reducing the risks for unfavourable outcomes. This is accomplished by working together with the family and child using various techniques and tools designed to build strengths and target areas for improvement. While early intervention has its strongest impact when offered during the first three years of life, research has shown that effective interventions can improve children’s life chances at any point during childhood.
